Fellowship Program (FIPAC)

Advancing Leadership in IPC, AMR & Global Health Security

The GAIPAC Fellowship Program is a prestigious, mid-to-senior level professional recognition designed to identify, support, and elevate experienced leaders working in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC), Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Biosafety, One Health, and Global Health Security. The fellowship aims to build a trusted global cadre of practitioners who translate evidence into policy, programs, and measurable impact across health systems.

GAIPAC Fellows represent excellence in practice, leadership, and commitment to equity-driven health security solutions, particularly in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) contexts.

Fellowship Duration & Structure

  • Fellowship Term: 5 years
  • Fellowship Fee: USD 300 (one-time, linked to membership)
  • Award Modality: Merit-based, peer-reviewed
  • Renewal: Subject to continued engagement and contribution

The fellowship is awarded only to active GAIPAC members and remains valid for the full five-year term (Membership will be automatically renewed till end of Fellowship)

Eligibility Criteria (Applicable to All Applicants)

Applicants must meet all of the following minimum criteria:

  1. Professional Experience
    • At least 5 years of demonstrable professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
      • Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
      • Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) / Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS)
      • Laboratory systems, biosafety, or diagnostics
      • One Health or Global Health Security
    • Experience may be in government, academia, healthcare facilities, laboratories, NGOs, or development programs.
  2. GAIPAC Membership
    • Must hold an active GAIPAC membership at the time of application.
    • Fellowship status is conferred after membership confirmation.
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Submission of a detailed CV highlighting:
      • Technical roles and responsibilities
      • Leadership, advisory, or implementation experience
      • Publications, guidelines, trainings, or major program contributions (if applicable)
  4. Professional Essay
    • A structured essay (1,000 words) outlining:
      • The applicant’s contribution to IPC/AMR/health security
      • Practical impact achieved in their context
      • Future vision and how the GAIPAC Fellowship will strengthen their work
      • Commitment to equity, sustainability, and country ownership
    • Applicants requesting fee waivers must clearly justify need within the essay.

Fellowship Fee & Equity Provisions

  • Standard Fellowship Fee: USD 300 (for the full five-year period)
  • Waivers & Reductions:
    • defined percentage of fellowships will be offered with partial or full fee waivers for:
      • Professionals from LMICs (30-90% depending upon profile)
      • Applicants working in under-resourced, fragile, or humanitarian settings (30-90% depending upon profile)
      • Other deserving candidates demonstrating financial constraints and high public-health impact (20-50%)
  • Waiver decisions are made through transparent review of the submitted essay.
